A Little More Misc.

Looks like Microsoft has jumped on the Facebook bandwagon with the release of a Facebook app for Zune HD. I would still love to see more apps released for the Zune HD, maybe they just don’t want to compete with their upcoming Windows Phone 7.

I thought it was pretty cool that Dungeons and Dragons now has 1 million players since going free to play with a cash shop option. It also looks like Turbine is making more money this way also! I fear this might be the future of MMOs as we know it.

Of course it would have to be done just right, Allods Online, which is still just in beta, just recently patched in their cash shop. There was much upset as it was $10 for just one bag upgrade! That is nuts. But they say they plan to adjust prices before launch. I’ve played the beta and liked it a lot really. It’s like a weird mix of World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online. It’s a great free to play title and probably the most polished one I’ve seen to date.

That’s not to say that the subscription titles are giving up. Lord of the Rings Online just pushed out their latest update, Volume 3 Book 1: Oath of the Rangers. This update brings some new skills, new 12 man battles, and more. Great news for the LotRO community.

It also seems as though they’re busy over in WoW also. The next expansion, Cataclysm, will change the world in WoW forever. One the old world is redone, no one can ever go back to it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a company redo their original game completely like this. It’s kind of exciting. They’re even changing everything about stats too! Even redoing all the gear. I guess in a way, Cataclysm is WoW 2. A little…

Cataclysm is going to be nucking futs. Is there any talk of when it is going to be released? I am guessing around Christmas.
