Diablo 3 … Beaten

Small Misc.

   Do you like getting things on sale? I know I do. Coming up this month amazon will be having limited deals on select mmo titles! I know that over in the UK they sold that Final Fantasy XIV for $5! It might be worth that for just the one free month. Looks like they might have some really good deals coming up.

   The upcoming new DC Universe content about The Joker will in fact still have Mark Hamill as the voice of The Joker. For me, there’ll never be another as good as him.

   Are you on Verizon like me? Were you grandfathered in with an unlimited plan too? Well it looks like those are being done away with now also! I can no longer stand Verizon. They just keep trying to find ways to nickel and dime their customer base to death. First it was their attempt at charging a ‘convenience fee’ for paying your bill from your phone. Then the new ‘re-signing’ fee for the privilege to re-sign with them. Now they’re doing away with those of us that got grandfathered into their new data pricing scheme. That’s it. When my contract ends this December I’m through with them. I think I might go with Straight Talk, which will cut my bill in half, and maybe buy a separate GSM phone. I’m thinking maybe a Google Galaxy Nexus. Not sure just yet. Shoot, could even use an iPhone on Straight Talk if I wanted.

Bunch of Misc.

   Are you looking forward to Dark Siders 2? You’ll be happy to know that it now has a release date of August 14th! Soon you’ll be able to play as death himself!

   Unfortunately if you were looking forward to the new South Park RPG it’s been pushed back to 2013. That’s sad.

   Are you looking forward to Hawken too? I think it could be awesome! Well, they’ve just stuck a deal with GaiKai to pre-release it! If I could get it to work, I would love to try it!

   On the SWTOR front it looks like they’re about to have another free pass weekend. At first I thought these were awesome, but now it begins to worry me some. Are they desperate? This one will be Thursday, May 17th through Monday, May 21st.

   Remember RIFT? I loved that game, it was just too short. Not enough content, and it had boring pvp. Well to try to fix that they’re going to be adding three faction based pvp soon. You’ll be able to try this out on their test servers come May 17th.

   Meanwhile on the Diablo front, it looks like someone has beaten it in just 7 hours somehow! That’s insane!!! If you’re wanting/needing a refresher in the history of Diablo 1 and 2 you might want to check out Blizzard’s new Diablo 3 video. It might help!

Small Update . . .

   Evil has risen once more! The armies of Hell are on the attack, and I am trilled to take up arms and run into the fight! Together we will beat Diablo back into the depths of Hell whence he came!

   In other news, this coming weekend will be the next beta weekend for The Secret World. As much as I like TSW I have to admit I will most likely be on the front lines fighting Diablo!

Monday Misc.

   Are you wanting to try out Diablo 3 before buying it? Well you might be able to do just that thanks to Diablo 3 Starter Edition. It will let you play up to level 13, and to the first major boss. To get this now you have to find someone who bought a boxed copy and get their buddy pass. I bought digital so I can’t help anyone out this time. Sorry.

   Want to see a great final project? You have to check out this one students working portal turret complete with voice! That’s an awesome final project!

   I think we all love a good one hit kill in a game. Only if we’re doing though of course. You’ve got to check out this great mash up of the most famous one hit kills to date. It’s too awesome, and funny!

Good Gaming Times!

   First off tomorrow will be the release of Diablo 3, and I can’t wait! That’s going to be awesome!

   Today at 2pm EST will be a stress test for Guild Wars 2 will for all the pre-purchases. I think this is an awesome mmo and it having no subscription to me is amazing. This test today is suppose to last until 9 tonight. This is great as I’m wanting to try something with a thief class. I also don’t think they’ve wiped any characters from the last beta weekend.

   As for my time in The Secret World I’m loving it. I love no levels, and no classes! I think I’ve found my favorite weapon combo now, dual pistols, and a shotgun! That combo gives good range and when they come in close great AOE damage! I also love that this game is based on riddles and not just killing.

   As for SWTOR I’ve not logging into it in sometime. I had bought a 6 month subscription, and they gave me an additional free month so I’m paid through the end of August. I’m just waiting to see if anything changes between now and then, but if it doesn’t I think I might cancel it, and just play Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, and The Secret World. So far I love those 3, and only one of them has a sub!

   Oh yes, next week will be the release of the most pre-ordered game in amazon history! Soon …. very soon ….

Little Misc. Bits

   Great news as Dishonored has a release date of October 9th. I have high hopes for this BioShock/Assassin's Creed/Thief mixture of a game.

   Have you been looking at possibly getting a new DSi? Soon you’ll be able to pick up a new DSi for just $100 come May 20th. It makes it far cheaper than the 3DS.

   So far I think The Secret World is awesome. I love it, but I can imagine a lot of people that won’t. It’s a massive pve title, with little pvp, large amounts of story, and even puzzles at times you have to solve. I also don’t think a large part of the WoW crowd will like it as it will not be as familiar as what they are use to. No classes, no levels, and no traditional kill quests are just a few of the changes. I think it will be a large niche title in the end. A niche I will be part of. They do already have 1 million beta signups so that does so that there’s an interest. If you ever liked The X Files or just love the paranormal, then you might like it too. It’s a personal call of course…

   Been thinking a lot lately about all of these companies talking about how many millions of players they have. What does it matter really? I know that it’s a good thing for the company, like WoW holding onto 10.2 million players, but in the end, how many of those people do I interact with? Not many in the end. What’s become more important to me, as I get older, is if I’m still having fun. After all, isn’t that what gaming is suppose to be about?

Some More Misc .

   Do you remember Jolt Cola? I do! It looks like you can now get it at amazon in a 12 pack for $26.73 now. I use to love it, but I don’t know if it’s worth over $2 per 12 ounce bottle. That just seems a bit high to me. Although I guess it’s a better deal than $18.99 for 6 cans of Cocaine energy drink! That’s nuts!

   Almost as nuts as a pending suit by an author over Assassin’s Creed potentially delaying the next games launch. I do have to admit though, if a game was made from a book I wrote without including me I would probably seek that $5.25 million myself.

   Also a little crazy would have to be the new patent of Microsoft for a pressure based controller that would allow a system to recognize individual users. That’s right, they seek to log you in using the method you hold something. Oh yeah, that sounds secure. NOT!

   This coming Monday will be a short stress test for Guild Wars 2 for them to try to work on the server population issues from that last beta weekend. Pre-purchase only accounts will be able to log in between 2:00 p.m. EDT until 9:00 p.m. EDT. And they’ve put the pre-purchase back up for a time so you can go grab it if you like awesome online games with no monthly fee.

   All I can say is that GW2 test is on the 14th, and then Diablo 3 is released the next day! Those two awesome games added to the awesomeness that is The Secret World is just too cool. I’m thinking I’ve got my games for sometime with these 3!!!
